Welcome to GSPS Online!
The Golden State
Phonograph Society (GSPS) is an association of antique phonograph collectors
and enthusiasts who meet bi-monthly in members' homes or at public venues such
as museums or parks to share information and fellowship. We keep our
membership up to date with a bi-monthly newsletter, 'The GSPS Record'. Our goal
is to share common ground with all other phonograph societies and clubs in
promoting public awareness of the early history of sound recording and in
fostering the preservation of early recording and playback technologies.
In these pages you will find information and pictures ranging from Thomas A.
Edison's first tinfoil cylinder phonograph of 1877 to the Victor Talking
Machine Company's Orthophonic Victrolas of the 1920's. There are links to
phonograph-related sites, museums and other phonograph societies and clubs.
Please feel free to browse through our site, maybe learn something new, and
perhaps even inquire about joining us!
Dues are
now payable online by clicking the BUY NOW button under the Membership link,
located at the left side of this page!
